American Red Cross Professional Lifeguard Course

Course Description: Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue skills, surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED and more. These are all skills you will need to work as a professional lifeguard.

Course Details: The course is Blended Learning which means you will be required to complete a portion of the class through online educational modules. Practical skills will be taught and demonstrated during in-class sessions with the instructor. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes First Aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital certificates are available upon successful completion of course.

Course Requirements: Course participants must be at least 15 years old. They must be able to swim 300 yards of freestyle, tread water without using their hands for 2 minutes and retrieve a brick in 7 feet of water. If you are not a strong swimmer, please take swimming lessons before this class. To successfully complete the course, participants must attend all sessions, score at least 80% on two written tests and pass the practical portion of the exam.

Registration Fees:  The total registration fee for the course is $275. Payments can be completed in person with Guest Services at Hutchins Street Square at 125 S. Hutchins Street or online. To be enrolled in a Lifeguard Course, you must make full payment and turn in a completed copy of the Legal Consent Waiver of Liability Form. Cancellation Policy:  Upon early cancellation or failure of the course, I understand I will receive a refund of $175 for holding a spot in the course.
